We have collated some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our customers. If your query or concern is not addressed from a question below, please get in touch with us.
Is there any difference between the 80:20 12kg bags and the working dog 15kg bags?
There is 1% additional fat and oils in the working and sporting food, other than that the ingredients are the same.
My cat suffers from Urinary crystals/infections, is the food suitable?
Both recipes of the cat kibble (Original & Country) contain cranberry. Cranberry or blueberry will prevent the bacteria from attaching to the lining of the urinary tract and is great for the prevention of recurrent infections. Our wet food also contains blueberries and a lot more moisture to help support the cats health.
As your product is grain free, does this mean my dog will be susceptible to Dilated Cardiomyopathy(DCM)?
No, DCM concerns are associated with those grain-free products containing high levels of legumes such as peas or lentils, other legume seeds, or potatoes listed as primary ingredients. The high level of legumes can cause a reduced intake of Taurine which can impede the cardiac muscles and cells. As Eden products are high levels of human-grade meat this would not deplete the levels of Taurine in their system.
How much should I feed my dog?
Dependent on the age, weight and if the dog is ‘entire’ or neutered, we can advise on a good starting point to feed and you can then adjust to increase/decrease the recommended feeding amounts to suit individual pet needs. You are looking to achieve firm, formed stools and a good overall body shape.
We have a recommended feeding guide here
Alternatively, you can call us on: 01782 322409 - Monday-Friday from 09.00 – 17.00. We can go through in more detail and tailor the amount to feed your dog based on the information you provide us.
Are your bags recyclable?
The 15kg bags are actually recyclable (HDPE/PE), however the other bags would only be able to be recycled at certain plants. We are exploring other options/materials, such as a single polymer laminate to replace our white retail bags, so will be exploring the options and performance of the material in relation to the Eden products range. The process may take a while but we will post updates on our Facebook group pages as the environmental aspect is of importance to Eden and we are working on our future bag situation.
My dog has regurgitated the food
Eating the kibble too fast can result in the stomach rejecting the food, so it may be worth changing the kibble size or investing in a slow feeder. Larger dogs would benefit from a raised bowl and smaller dogs may need to be fed little and often and the amount being fed is too much at a time and the stomach will reject the food.
My dog has loose stools
There could be many factors affecting the stools, sometimes overfeeding can attribute to this, so if you would be so kind and let us know the weight and age of your dog, if they have been neutered and the amount they are being fed, we can then check and confirm the recommended daily feeding quantity for you.
As Eden is so nutritious and a condensed formula with no bulkers or fillers, the feeding quantities are much less than other brands, so we always recommend weighing out the food on scales and as the portion sizes provided may often look considerably less than you expect, the temptation maybe to feed a little over the required amount and this may sometimes result in loose stools. If this is the case, we would recommend reducing the quantity of food given by 10% to see if this resolves the issues experienced.
Another reason for loose stools could be an intolerance to an ingredient within the formula (most commonly chicken in our experience), so you may want to try another formula of Eden.
When can I get my food?
We do advise 3-5 working days for delivery; however, it could be as early as next day when placed before 2pm. If it is a worry we can track your order here at the office to make sure that it goes smoothly and I’ll let you know if there are any issues.
Do you sell samples?
We do have sample bags available at £5 for 3 x sample packs totaling 300g so you can try a variety of the formulas/flavours. The £5.00 charge is to cover the cost of postage.
Please contact our office Monday-Friday from 09.00 – 17.00 on 01782 322409 to purchase, alternatively you can see if there is a local stockist close to you who may have samples free of charge, please use our online stockist locator , just enter your postcode into the search engine at the top of the screen to locate your nearest stockist
Why is the country cuisine the most expensive, when the product is an 80:20?
Our Country Cuisine formula is our most expensive recipe due the quality of the ingredients. Venison is a high-quality protein as it is wild caught unlike conventional proteins that are farmed. It is classed as a complete protein as it contains all ten essential amino acids, these play a vital role in the metabolic and chemical reactions within the body. Venison is low in fat and contains 3 x less cholesterol compared with Beef.
The fact that wild game animals eat their natural diet and are very active in the wild contributes to the lower fat content of the meat. Additionally, eating greens in the wild contributes to a higher content of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids.
